Visible hyperlinked text on a webpage is known as anchor text. Anchor text plays very important role in Search Engine Optimization. Anchor text is very widely used. Anchor text is very helpful for high page ranking in search engines especially in Google because Google pays high attention to anchor text. Anchor text is also known as link title and link label. Anchor text or link label tells search engine about the page content (what is page all about). Anchor text length mainly remains under 60 characters. We can use anchor text in internal links, external links, navigation maps and links on our main page.
Example:-
<a href=”http://www.it-india.com/”>IT-INDIA.COM</a>
In above example “IT-INDIA.COM” is anchor text.
